ポストロック界隈のカルトなファンから支持を得ていたthreemovementsの解散から程なく、2007年後半に同バンドの残党組によって結成された、eaststrikewestという6人組は、次世代のアイコンとなるべきシンガー・Tom Clarkによる圧倒的なヴォーカルを中心に、mogwaiとThe Verveが交錯したかのような、高まりゆくギター・レイヤーとドラミング、さらには壮大なストリングス・アレンジメントで、threemovementsの解散に泣いたファンの表情を一変させる怒濤の展開を見せる。ロンドン中心の活動を地道に続け、Thirty Days Of Night Recordsと契約した彼らのデビュー作は2009年10月にイングランドでリリース。時を同じくして、古くから交流のあったHappy Princeから同月ライセンス・リリース！！ Oasis, The Verveを彷彿とさせる朗々とした我が道を行くヴォーカルと、mogwaiをはじめとした轟音ポストロックのエッセンスを抽出したアンサンブル、まさにThe Verveの名作『Urban Hymns』を連想させる壮大なストリングスを合わせ持ったサウンドは、UKロック界に現れた超新星として今後のシーンで王道を歩む姿を早くも想像させる、本物の存在感を示している。
